Diane Reid Lyon is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor in private practice. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachussets in 1993. She specializes in working with special needs children/teens and their families, though she works with adults as well and the following issues: LD/ADHD, high functioning autism, anxiety, depression, grief, suicide loss, divorce/blended families/co-parenting, and trauma. Diane enjoys working relationally to bring about love, forgiveness, improved communication and connection. She works to bridge understanding and compassion between parent and child. With adults, she finds it rewarding to explore family of origin issues and bring understanding of how these issues impact current functioning and relationships in the present. Diane provides pscho-education, assisting her clients to understand their diagnosis and this may include information re: current basic neuropsychological research. She is eclectic in her approach pulling from a variety of theoretical orientations and techniques including but not limited to: cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, psycho-dynamic theory, family systems theory and EMDR. Diane works to build on coping skills, equipping her clients with strategies to better manage cognitive deficits and distortions, mood states and behavioral issues. Diane assists her clients by helping them to better understand their current state of functioning and providing hope that change is possible. Together, she and her clients develop a plan to bring about desired change. Diane is an honored to witness the growth and success her clients achieve.
